野山獄平面図のやまごくへいめんず

萩藩はぎはんの牢屋ろうやであった野山獄のやまごく(上牢じょうろう)は、士分しぶんの者ものを収容しゅうようし、岩倉獄いわくらごく(下牢げろう)は、庶民しょみんを収容しゅうようした。萩はぎに送おくりかえされた松陰しょういんは野山獄のやまごくに、金子重輔かねこしげのすけは岩倉獄いわくらごくに入いれられたが、野山獄のやまごくには男十人おとこじゅうにんと女一人おんなひとりが収容しゅうようされていた。

The Noyamagoku Prison (Upper Cells) in Hagi Domain was used to incarcerate samurai-class individuals, while the Iwakuragoku Prison (Lower Cells) was used for commoners. After being returned to Hagi, Yoshida Shoin was incarcerated in Noyamagoku Prison, while Kaneko Shigesuke was incarcerated in Iwakuragoku Prison. Noyamagoku Prison housed ten men and one woman at that time.
